Sandsfoot Castle has been closed to the public since the 1930’s. By working together, the Friends Group and the Borough Council submitted a funding bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund. The bid was successful and work to renovate and make the castle accessible began in February 2011. The official opening will take place on Saturday 7th April 2012 at 11am.

Sandsfoot castle and gardens is one of our favourite places to visit, a lovely little haven far away from the bustling town centre, a very picturesque castle sits in wonderful gardens with the backdrop of Weymouth bay and the Isle of Portland.
If you are visiting Weymouth it’s definitely a must see, there’s even a cafe in the grounds of the gardens with plenty of benches, tables and chairs so you can just sit back with a drink and soak in the beauty of this wonderful area.
Guests who are staying at The Channel are always advised to try and make time to visit and they never come back disappointed.
